Have you heard of Fundación Niños en Alegría? From 📌 Guerrero, this organization transforms the lives of thousands of children by improving schools, training teachers, and supporting families so that education becomes an open door to the future.
History and Founders
🩷 Origin. The association was founded in 2003 to improve the conditions of public primary schools in 📌 Acapulco, Guerrero, starting with the renovation and equipping of school facilities and implementing actions to ensure students learn in safe environments.
🩷 Leadership. It was launched by Alejandra Alemán together with Sandra García-Sanjuán, and since then has accumulated two decades of continuous work for education in Mexico.
What Do They Do?
🎯 Infrastructure and Equipment. They rebuild and equip classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, and civic plazas, planned in coordination with local authorities to ensure dignity, safety, and well-being in learning.
🎯 Student Support. They organize camps and the Club NEA to strengthen academic and socio-emotional skills; they also help families obtain official documentation (such as birth certificates) to prevent children from being excluded from school.
🎯 Teacher Training. They run programs such as Gestor de Clase (with Fundación Telefónica Movistar and La Caixa) and Creando Código to develop 21st-century skills (collaboration, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving) in the classroom.
Impact and Results
🩷 Key Figures (2023 data). More than 75,000 children benefited, over 25 schools built/rehabilitated, 121 schools served, and more than 2,400 teachers trained.

📌 Where Do They Operate?
📌 Guerrero is the historic focus (with specific projects extending to 📌 Oaxaca), and operations are coordinated from offices in 📌 Mexico City and 📌 Acapulco.

Why Their Work Matters
🩷 Education as Social Mobility. Addressing infrastructure, teacher training, and socio-emotional skills simultaneously creates real conditions for children to learn, stay in school, and envision a future with better opportunities.
🩷 Comprehensive Response to Vulnerability. Actions such as supporting families with legal documents or implementing rainwater harvesting reflect a 360° approach that addresses the causes of dropout and underachievement, not just the symptoms.
🩷 Transparency and Continuity. With 20 years of sustained work, the foundation has built trust with donors, volunteers, and educational communities—key to maintaining long-term impact.
