Blaubeeren in Málaga – Theatre
Event Description
Experience Blaubeeren in Málaga, a powerful contemporary play by Moisés Kaufman and Amanda Gronich. A moving reflection on memory, responsibility, and the human legacy of the Holocaust.
About the Event
🎭 Blaubeeren arrives in Málaga in a compelling stage production by Barco Pirata in co-production with Producciones Teatrales Contemporáneas. Finalist for the 2024 Pulitzer Theatre Awards, this powerful work explores the discovery of previously unseen World War II photographs that reveal the daily lives of the officers who ran Auschwitz, the deadliest concentration camp in history. 🖼️ As an archive director at the United States Holocaust Museum studies the images, an unexpected story unfolds: how ordinary life existed alongside systematic extermination. When the photographs are published worldwide, a German businessman recognizes his own grandfather among the figures, leading him into a personal journey that forces him to confront inherited guilt, memory, and responsibility. ✨ Directed by Sergio Peris-Mencheta and performed by an outstanding ensemble, this 90-minute production examines what the Holocaust reveals about humanity today. Blaubeeren challenges audiences in Málaga to reflect on collective history, moral accountability, and the choices that shape our shared future.
