Teatro Cánovas

🎭 Located on the El Ejido hill in Málaga’s city centre, Teatro Cánovas has been a key cultural venue since its inauguration in 1991. Since 2005, it has been managed by the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, under the Regional Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Government of Andalusia. 🏛️ The theatre features two performance spaces: a main auditorium with 338 seats and a smaller “Sala B” with a capacity of 50 spectators. Both are designed as multidisciplinary and flexible stages, ideal for theatre, dance, contemporary performance and innovative formats. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Since the 2013–2014 season, Teatro Cánovas has become a reference point for children’s and youth theatre in Málaga, and in recent seasons has expanded its offer to include high-quality productions for adult audiences. In addition to performances, the venue hosts educational and community-based activities, fostering cultural participation and strengthening its role as a creative hub for the city.
