Coser y contar, object theatre by Irene Maquieira
Event Description
Irene Maquieira presents "Coser y contar" at Marpoética 2026, an object theatre piece on April 11 at 12:00 in Marbella.
About the Event
Sew and Tell is one of the proposals of The Poetry in Action within Marpoética 2026 and can be seen on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 12:00 at the Contemporary Spanish Engraving Museum in Marbella. The piece, created and performed by Irene Maquieira, is part of a cycle that combines poetry and performing arts in some of the city's most emblematic spaces. The activity requires an invitation, distributed on site the same day on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached. The work is presented as an object theater built from the sewing utensils of a woman born in 1936. Through these objects, memories, family silences, and memory are woven together, with an intimate staging around a circular table. The text and visual proposal work with needles, thread, measuring tape, and thimbles as metaphors for wounds, time, and memory. Irene Maquieira, trained in acting with Cristina Rota and in theatrical creation at UC3M, presents her first work as a creator here. It's a very powerful cultural plan for those looking for something more than a usual reading or presentation in Marbella. Here, poetry steps out of the book and becomes scene, object, and emotion. A great fit for searches like what to do in Marbella in April, theater in Marbella, or cultural plans during Marpoética. 🎭📜
