Norma
Description
A work by Antonio Ruz (Spain’s National Dance Award 2018) challenging “normality” and normative bodies, blending dance, text, singing and electronic sound.

About
🎭 Dance against the normative. Norma offers a critical take on normality, examining how identities are shaped through the body in the age of images and self-display; it dialogues with the “classical” paradigm as a lingering ghost. Presented at Marbella TodoDanza 2025. 🎼 Hybrid and alive. Ruz fuses dance, text, singing and electronic music (with operatic echoes like Casta Diva) to deconstruct ideals of the “perfect body” and celebrate diversity onstage. Roberto Martínez’s scenography and Olga García’s lighting sharpen the piece’s contemporary imagery. 👥 Team & background. Created and directed by Antonio Ruz; electronic music/DJ: Aire; texts: Gregorio Apesteguía; a diverse cast underlines uniqueness and presence. Ruz—National Dance Award 2018—balances form, dramaturgy and risk.
