Vera Cruz Procession 2026 in Marbella
Event Description
The Vera Cruz journeys through Marbella on Holy Thursday in a deeply solemn night procession, departing from the Chapel of Santo Cristo.
About the Event
The Procession of the Vera Cruz 2026 in Marbella is one of the most sober and unique events of Holy Thursday in the city. The Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of the Vera Cruz, Holy Christ Tied to the Column, and Mary Most Holy Virgin Blanca will set out on April 2 at 11:30 p.m. from the Chapel of the Holy Christ, in the old town, with a nighttime route through some of the most emblematic streets of the Marbella Holy Week. The procession is led by the Holy Christ of the Vera Cruz, on a baroque throne carved in wood and gilded, made in Granada in 1905. The cortege will include 50 carriers, 100 nazarenes, and the accompaniment of the Capilla Musical Málaga, reinforcing the character of silence and contemplation that defines this event. Among the most notable moments are the departure and enclosure in Plaza Santo Cristo, with the solemn raising and lowering of the cross, and the passage through the interior of the Parish of Our Lady of the Incarnation during its penitential station in total silence. Moreover, this year introduces an extension of the lower part of the throne, made in Alberto Berdugo's workshops. It is one of the must-see processions for those seeking to experience the Holy Week in Marbella from a more intimate, historical, and awe-inspiring perspective.
