Souleymane’s Story | San Pedro
Description
Screening of “Souleymane’s Story” (L’histoire de Souleymane, 2024), a French drama by Boris Lojkine about a food-delivery cyclist and asylum seeker in Paris who has two days to prepare his story before a crucial interview.
About
🟢 “Souleymane’s Story” plunges us into Paris alongside Souleymane, a young Guinean migrant who works as a bike food courier while waiting for an asylum interview that will decide his future in France. Over two intense days he must rehearse and refine the story he will tell the authorities. 🚴‍♂️ Constantly cycling through the city, Souleymane juggles delivery targets, debts and the fear of deportation, trapped between survival in the gig-economy and the pressure to invent a convincing political past. The film becomes a gripping social thriller, capturing the anxiety, exhaustion and moral tension of life on the margins. 🏆 Directed by Boris Lojkine and led by a powerful performance from Abou Sangaré, the film premiered in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, where it won the Jury Prize and Best Performance, and went on to win four César Awards in 2025, including Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress and Best Editing. 📍 Cineclub Buñuel screenings: San Pedro – Centro Municipal de Música · Tuesday 11 November, 9:00 p.m. 🎟️ Tickets: 3 € · Original version with Spanish subtitles
