On Saturday, August 1st, Torremolinos seafront hosts the grand final of the 12th Costa del Sol Espeto Competition 2026. From 6:00 PM to midnight, professional espeto cooks will compete to demonstrate their mastery of one of Málaga’s most recognisable culinary traditions. The competition brings together representatives from municipalities across the eastern and western Costa del Sol, highlighting the professional craft of cooking fish over open flames and the culture of Málaga’s beachfront chiringuitos. The organisers also support recognising the espeto as intangible cultural heritage. With free admission and the Mediterranean as its backdrop, the final offers a gastronomic and cultural plan for residents, families and visitors interested in discovering how authentic espetos are prepared.
