About
Austin Agustín Santos was born in New York on December 23, 1985, to Dominican parents. He was raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, where he immersed himself in the underground reggaeton scene and formed the duo Arcángel & De La Ghetto in 2004, gaining fame with tracks like “El Pistolón.” As a solo artist, Arcángel debuted with El Fenómeno (2008) and solidified his status with Sentimiento, Elegancia & Maldad (2013), a record that blended street lyricism with collaborations with Daddy Yankee and De La Ghetto. He later pivoted toward Latin trap with Ares (2018), a bold production featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin. After overcoming personal challenges and a car accident, he made a strong comeback: BZRP Music Session Vol. 54 (2023) landed him in Spotify’s Global Top 50, and the album Sr. Santos (2022) reaffirmed his reign in the urban scene. In 2025, he followed up with Sr. Santos II – Sueños de Grandeza, diving into personal struggles and triumphs. Today, he continues with select live performances—such as an upcoming date at Baja Beach Fest 2025—and collaborates with the new wave of Latin artists.
