Formed in Birmingham in 1978, Duran Duran spearheaded MTV’s 1980s “Second British Invasion” with a sleek new-wave sound and cinematic videos. Global hits such as “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Rio,” “Girls on Film,” and 1993’s comeback ballad “Ordinary World” turned them into arena mainstays. The group—now 16 studio albums deep—has sold over 100 million records worldwide, scoring 30 UK Top-40 and 21 US Top-40 singles Their fashion-forward image earned two Grammys for video artistry, while continual reinvention kept them charting across five decades. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, the classic line-up still tours stadiums and released Danse Macabre in 2023.
