🐧🎹 The cult-pop duo Un Pingüino en mi Ascensor lands in Marbella on Saturday 10 August 2025 with their legendary mix of 80s synths, dark humor, and quirky nostalgia. Live at the Auditorio José Pernía Calderón, in Parque de la Constitución — an unmissable summer throwback! 🌴😎
Founded in Madrid in 1985, attorney-turned-songwriter José Luis Moro began recording bedroom demos on a Yamaha PSR-60; producer-keyboardist Mario Gil (La Mode, Aviador Dro) joined in 1988, sealing the duo’s signature “nasal pop”. Their self-titled 1987 mini-LP spawned the hit “Espiando a mi vecina”, soon followed by cult classics “Atrapados en el ascensor” and El balneario (1988). Although label tensions forced a hiatus in the early 90 s, the pair reunited for seasonal tours and novelty albums, reinventing 80 s covers with surreal new lyrics. In 2024 they released the EP Secuelas, recorded at Gil House Studios and praised for marrying vintage synths with updated social satire. The band is celebrating its 40th anniversary with shows such as Sevilla’s Torneo 43 (31 Jan 2025) and Madrid’s Sala El Sol (18 Jun 2025), proving their tongue-in-cheek storytelling still resonates across generations. With black-humour lyrics, DIY visuals and Moro’s award-winning advertising background, Un Pingüino en mi Ascensor remains a one-of-a-kind voice in Spain’s pop landscape.
