La Alcoholera Theater

El Ingenio is one of San Pedro Alcántara’s most distinctive landmarks and a reminder of the town’s agricultural and industrial roots. Built in the late 19th century as the colony’s sugar-cane factory for the Marqués del Duero estate, it originally formed part of the farming settlement that gave birth to the town. Today, the main hall and tower are preserved, featuring a stepped gabled façade with ceramic trim and a defensive-style tower typical of industrial architecture from that period. After a careful restoration, the building was converted into a cultural and performing arts centre—known as La Alcoholera—run by Marbella Town Hall. Throughout the year it hosts theatre performances, concerts, dance shows, rehearsals for local companies, exhibitions and workshops, acting as a lively hub for schools, associations and residents of San Pedro.
